In meningitis lawyer news, an unprecedented third case of fungal meningitis has been identified in Rhode Island.
This third patient has been linked to steroid injections from the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Rhode Island state health officials reported yesterday that a a Warwick man received spinal injections at Ocean State Pain Management on Sept. 22. He is now being treated for fungal meningitis.
The fungal meningitis victim was in his 50’s and was being treated for back pain.
Rhode Island state officials have reported that 266 patients in Rhode Island received tainted medication from the New England compounding pharmacy in Framingham. According to the state, all of these patients have been notified and it’s been recommended that they seek medical treatment immediately.
According to recent news reports, the Warwick man is currently being treated at an area hospital.
Fortunately, the form of fungal meningitis which is inextricably connected to the outbreak can’t be transmitted from person-to-person. The infections occurred while getting injections administered by physicians or medical practitioners.

Earlier this week two other cases of meningitis were linked to the injections from the compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts have already been reported to state officials.
The two clinics that it have it been linked to the injections are the Ocean State and New England Anesthesiology Clinics in Warwick, Rhode Island. Ocean State has Clinics in Woonsocket and East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
So far, the Centers for Disease Control has reported that 419 people have been infected with 30 deaths so far.
